OUR HISTORY
Senora Francisca Urvina Delahantry delighted opera stars and artists in Tucson, Arizona around 1900. Here she pleased all with her Latin American delicacies at the Hotel de la Nogales. Her brother, Tio Crescencio Urvina eventually came to realize what their patrons needed along with their 5-cent cigarro and their 10-cent tequila— a portable snack much like a Mexican sandwich— and the taco was born.

Years later, Mamacita and Eduardo Urvina, children of Senora Francisca, were charged with forging on their family history opened "The Arizona Zarape" in Tucson, armed only with their legaacy of Sonoran recipes. The family eventually moved further west to California, where the "Tortilla Flats" was established as we know it today. Established in 1949, Tortilla Flats was created as a magnificient Mexican hacienda. Tortilla Flats on lake Mission Viejo carries on the tradtions from long before, and to this day Mamacita's renowned "Especialides" are created daily. The tradition of excellent food, charming surroundings, and superb service has made Tortilla Flats a favorite in Saddleback Valley.
